Fast & Simple Control Of Cartridge Heaters With Novus N322
Our customer was looking for a replacement temperature controller for some cartridge heaters used on a seal forming machine. The cartridge heaters were not working and the customer had no technical information for this old machine. This setup is extremely common whereby the heaters are situated inside a metal body with a seperate drilling to locate the sensor. The sensor provides feedback to the controller on the current temperature.
We quickly established that our Novus N322 JKT Digital Thermostat could switch the cartridge heaters on and off directly via Output 1 which is rated to 16A resistive load. We also ensured it could operate at the maximum running temperature of 300 Celsius.
Setup and wiring of these controllers is very simple, so for applications not requiring full PID control the N322 is a great choice. Our customer was up and running in minutes with just a few pointers required on adjustment of the Hysteresis parameter HY1.
If you require gentle thermostatic heating of cartridge heaters, rod elements or similar electric heaters we can recommend the Novus Automation N322. The accuracy of control can be +/- 2 or 3 degrees Celsius which for many applications is perfectly adequate without the complexity or added cost of a PID Controller.
