Why Use A Branded Solid State Relay?
We were asked the above question recently by a customer sourcing their parts from a familiar online marketplace. Unfortunately they experienced some ‘quality’ issues and it led to the discovery the devices were inferior copies being sold at bargain prices.
The internals of the relays were found to contain components rated far below the amperage stated. At best likely to cause premature failure and more worryingly a danger to plant and persons.
There is a minimum price for most branded automation components which meet industry approvals. Anything below which you have to question ‘How is it so cheap?’. Both of our main suppliers of Solid State Relays produce reliable devices which are provided with warranty backup. With prices from £15.00 is it really worth taking a risk on a cheap deal?
